2026/27 OPEN PACE BOARD POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Each position shall be elected at the annual election Board Meeting for a one-year term.
Elections on 5/20/26 @ 6pm via Zoom.

Current Open Positions for 2026/27 School Year:
PACE Events Team
Our current VP of Events is returning for the 26/27 school year and has a wealth of organizational and school information to share! You are welcome to join PACE alongside her as co-VP of Events. This position:
- Oversees and coordinates all school activities organized by PACE, by generally maintaining the budget and calendar for each event and liaising with school administration and PACE President and Vice President as needed. Specifically, VPs may play an organizing role in school tours, back-to-school and open house nights, Camp Emerson, and teacher appreciation events. It is helpful to have a rudimentary understanding of Excel and SignUp Genius.
If a yearlong board position is not your thing, consider working with the VP as one or both of the following:
- Tour Director: Emerson hosts approximately 8 prospective family tours in the fall and early spring. The Tour Director is in charge of tracking and printing the sign-in sheet for each tour, purchasing light refreshments and snacks (paid by PACE), setting up the morning of each tour (~7:45am), helping greet and sign in families, and breaking down by 8:30am.
- Staff Appreciation Chair: Our teachers and staff are Emerson’s greatest assets and we recognize them formally twice each year. PACE hosts a holiday lunch before winter break, and a breakfast and lunch during LAUSD Teacher Appreciation week in early May. As Chair, you would be responsible for organizing the catering for each event, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing the decor and general aspects of each event. PACE is equipped with a budget, catering contacts, decorations and a blueprint from previous years’ events making this role a breeze!
VP – Communications
PACE strives to maintain communication with Emerson’s parents and provide timely and important information about school and PACE activities. Our VP of Communications serves as a board member and:
- Coordinates obtaining contact information of parents and guardians
- Maintains and distributes PACE weekly newsletter (outside of holiday breaks)
- Maintains Instagram account and PACE gmail account
- Oversees dissemination of information to Emerson families as needed throughout the school week.
